September 20 2022

You may be very frustrated by a dead vehicle battery. If your car battery keep draining or dying quickly? Here are 7 tips that can help you avoid drain car batteries.

1. Turn off your headlights when leaving

If your car doesn’t have the function to automatically turn off lights, your headlights may stay on until you either turn them off or till your car battery is completely drained.

2. Avoid "PARASITIC DRAW”

Even while your car is off, your battery still provides power to things like lights, clock, radio etc. You’d better turn off every light and make sure your trunk,

glove box, and doors are fully closed and latched before leaving the car.

3. Regularly clean car battery terminals

If your terminals is loose or corroded, you might have trouble starting the vehicle because your battery can't properly transmit the power! You can regularly

clean your car’s battery terminals to prevent corrosion-related problems!

4. Replace your old battery in time

Normally the battery could last up to five years, but the life may be shorten to 2-3 years due to extreme temperatures, frequent short trips, and general everyday

use. If your car battery dies quickly, it might be time for a new one.

5. Check your alternator

If the alternator isn't working correctly, it can’t charge the battery effectively, which can make it hard to start your car even if you were just driving! If your car

can' t start after driving, it might be your alternator. Bring your to check what the problem could be.

6. Don't leave your car under extrme temperature

If you park your vehicle in extreme heat or cold for long time, the lead sulphate crystals begin to grow within the battery. These crystals block the pores in the electrodes,

preventing further ion transport into the positive and negative plates. Over time, the batteries become less efficient, resulting in lower output power and shorter battery life.

7. Avoid excessive short drives

Cranking the engine uses a lot of energy from your vehicle’s batteries. However, if you often go on short journeys, the alternators may not be able to fully charge your batteries

between pit stops. Over the course of several short journeys, this could cause your vehicle’s electrical system to wear out faster than normal.
